If it's too heavy, put it down

Picture this- you are in a crowd (life) and you can’t see well enough to navigate through. You have someone next to you searching for a way through the crowd too. Maybe it’s a friend, maybe it’s a stranger.

You decide to lift that person and let them stand on your shoulders so that they can see above the crowd and tell you where to walk. The two of you, as a team, make it through the crowded mess and emerge on the other side. 𝒯𝒽𝒾𝓈 is how it’s supposed to go.

Sometimes though, you lift that person and the weight (judgement, expectations, guilt, negativity) crushes you, taking you both down to the ground. This is not unlike trying to save someone who is drowning and suddenly you’re both pulled under.

If this happens here is what we need to do.... 𝓟𝓾𝓽 𝓲𝓽 𝓭𝓸𝔀𝓷

stand back up, brush off our shoulders and try again. Don’t stop lifting people up just because one person crushes you. Don’t let the weight of that person’s heaviness change your ability to continue on.

We can’t save the entire crowd. We can only navigate through this messy life as best we can. We will bump into walls and trip and fall. We will try to lift things up that are much too heavy for us. Get back up. Keep searching for the right people. The ones who feel light as a feather and are easy to be with.

You 𝓌𝒾𝓁𝓁 find the people who you can easily carry on your shoulders and you will help each other through the crowd (life). 𝒯𝒽𝑒𝓈𝑒 are your peeps. Your tribe. The people who you want to surround yourself with.

Are you surrounded by people who bring each other down instead of lifting each other up? FIND A NEW TRIBE. Easier said than done? Yep...it’s hard but here is how you can start...think about the people (even if they are strangers) who have traits and morals that you value and who’s actions resonate with you. Who make you smile and feel good. Then take a chance. Ask to get to know them. Reach out and schedule a lunch or a walk. Form a relationship with them and watch how things change for you 👏👏👏

It’s going to take some bravery to redirect yourself in the crowd but it will lead you to the people who will lift you up and not crush you.

I believe in you! Protect your energy. Protect your shoulders. If it’s too heavy, you have permission to put it down 💕
