Sometimes things feel worse than they are. Sometimes a shadow in the night ends up being something silly.
Sometimes you feel like youāre drowning in an ocean...but itās just a wave. I heard a song the other day with a lyric similar to this and it made me stop and listen (I love when that happens. Go music šŖ) and itās been my fightinā words to myself ever since.
Iāll be honest. I feel like Iām drowning in an ocean right now. My lungs are filled with salt water and Iām choking and sputtering and I canāt seem to come up for air no matter how hard I try...but I know itās not the truth. I know itās a wave and soon Iāll be able to breathe in fresh clean air and cleanse my soul again.
If you feel like you are drowning in an ocean try and remind yourself that this isnāt an ocean, itās a wave. Yes, itās rolling over you, tossing you around, disorienting you and pushing you towards the ocean floor where you are scraping your body on broken shells and gritty sand but you will soon be pushed back up to the surface, emerge through the white foamy surf and finally take that deep cleansing breath of air you have been fighting for. You will be a little beat up. You will be a little bruised but you will be ok again. Itās just a wave.
